TIME TRIAL FAQ

Who can enter?

• The interclub events are restricted to club members. See our separate heading for details of our interclub competition against Epsom CC.

• The monthly club time trial is open to club members and as a ‘come and try it’ event sponsored by the CTT open to newcomers to the sport of time trialling.

Where are they?

• The club TT is at the course known locally as Hungry Hill, location of the start and course details are here..

• The start/finish and ‘signing on’ and parking are all at the same place

• The interclub events are at various locations – see the SWRC website for course details.

When do I arrive?

• You will need to arrive with enough time to allow you to set up your bike, ‘sign on’- essentially signing a form that gives us your name and address, you are aware of the hazards/risks etc, to pay the club the £2.00 entry fee and collect your number.

• You will then need to warm up; anything from 15 – 30 minutes, on the Hungry Hill circuit you might want to go around the course, allow 30 minutes for this.

How will I know where to go?

• The course will be fully signed and there will be a map at the start, however the onus is on the rider to know the route.

 Is it safe?

• We generally use quiet country lanes, however there is one section of A road, however this is not too busy. You do need to be aware of other road users and remember that this is for fun at the end of the day.

How fast do I need to go?

• The fastest riders will do the course in 35 minutes the slowest around 50 – 55 minutes, if you can do 18 – 20 mph on a relatively flat course you’ll be fine

What equipment do I need?

• There will be Time trial specific bikes there with riders in Aero helmets, however all you need to make a start in the sport is a road bike, quite a few club members turn up on their road bikes and treat the event as a training ride for bunch racing or just to get fitter.

• The CTT recommend that all riders wear a hard shell helmet (compulsory for under 18 year olds) and that you have a flashing red light fitted to the rear of the bike,

Where can I get more information?
